Jiri Georg Dokoupil | Prize | Venetian Bubbles

We are delighted to inform you, that gallery artist Jiri Georg Dokoupil has been awarded the Karl Ernst Osthaus Prize 2024 and invited to present his solo exhibition “Venetian Bubbles 2.5” at the Osthaus Museum in Hagen.

“Venetian Bubbles” were first shown at the Biblioteca Nazional Marciana – Mistero della cultura, this year. In the exhibition Dokoupil unveiled completely new aspects : Beside a new group of large-scale paintings, mostly made for this exhibition, he created sculptures where the formerly ephemeral of his soap bubbles now materialize in the three-dimensional space(…)The temporary character of his paintings is now in a direct dialogue with the impossible: A soap bubble captured and conserved at the peak of its existence.
