Biography & CV
Nina Nowak (b. 1984, Poznan, Poland) lives and works between Germany and Copenhagen, Denmark. Nowak holds an MFA from Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and she also studied at the Royal Institute of Fine Art in Stockholm. Currently the artist holds a research scholarship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Braunschweig, Germany. Furthermore, she is an alumnus of the Jan Van Eyck Academy and has been awarded the prize for Abstract Sculpture of Diakonie Michaelsvhoven, Cologne, Germany (2022). In 2018, Nowak was awarded a one-year grant program by Stiftung Kunstfonds Bonn (Cultural Foundation of Germany) and the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North-Rhine Westphalia supported her work with an individual working grant in 2017.
Nowak’s work has been exhibited at Korean Cultural Centre, London, UK (2022) Arken Museum of Modern Art, Ishøj, Denmark (2022); Museum Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf, Germany (2019) and Horsens Kunstmuseum, Horsens, Denmark (2018). Horsens Kunstmuseum holds four of Nowak’s works in their permanent collection.
