Biography & CV
Helmut Federle (b. 1944, in Solothurn, Switzerland) lives and works between Vienna, Austria and Camaiore, Italy. Federle represented Switzerland at the Venice Biennale in 1997. In 2008, he received the Prix Aurélie Numours and in 2016 the Ricola Collection Prize. Federle was Professor at Staatliche Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf, Germany from 1999 – 2007.
Recent solo exhibitions include Kunstmuseum Basel/Neubau, Basel, Switzerland (2019), Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, Lisbon, Portugal (2017), and Kunstmuseum Luzern, Luzern, Switzerland (2012).
Fedele is represented in various prominent public collections, including Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark; Moderna Museet, Sweden; Kunsthaus Zürich, and Kunstmuseum Basel, Switzerland; Kunstmuseum Bonn, and Staatliche Museen Preußischer Kulturbesitz, Germany; mumok, and Albertina Museum, Austria; Tate Modern, UK; Centre Pompidou, and Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nantes, France; Gemeentemuseum, Netherlands; National Gallery of Australia, Australia; MoMA, and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, USA.
